On Wednesday, October 9th, CSSW found a display of unapproved fliers and other materials in the student/staff lounge. Action was taken to remove these materials as soon as administrators became aware of them. Additionally, a report of the incident was filed that same day with the Columbia University Office of Institutional Equity.
CSSW supports free speech, but does not condone language that promotes violence in any manner. It is antithetical to our values, disruptive to our mission, and does not align with our social work principles or the National Association of Social Workers’ Code of Ethics.
We will continue to heal our community by centering the importance of human relationships and taking swift action when activities do not align with what we stand for.
