Seminar Training in Field Instruction (SIFI)
The policy of the school requires field instructors to have completed a Seminar in Field Instruction prior to supervising a student. We offer several options depending on supervisory experiences. Courses in supervision do not meet the school’s requirements. There is no fee for the seminar, however, you must be supervising a Columbia School of Social Work student to participate in the seminar. For further information on hosting a student intern at your agency, see our Field Educators page. If your agency has not registered as an available site to host a student, please complete the Placement Request Form.
Spring 2022 SIFI Classes are now closed. Fall 2022 Registration will open up in July 2022.
Seminar in Field Instructions Available:
All 12 Session Seminar in Field Instruction courses are identical and begin the week of February 4th. The registration process is now open and take the time to review the session that works best for your schedule. Please complete the online form at your earliest convenience. Given the current demand SIFI offerings will be on a first come first serve basis for potential field instructors who have agreed to support a CSSW student for the Spring 2022 cohort.
