Presenter
DR. MIRIAM SCHIFF
The role of social workers has changed and evolved during the COVID pandemic. Preparing for the next wave of COVID and other potential pandemics is now a key challenge in the social work profession. Learning from experiences of other countries with different mitigation guidelines may expand social workers’ knowledge and expertise in the field.
This webinar will include a presentation of a large-scale quantitative and qualitative study conducted in Israel and other countries on the changing roles of social workers in healthcare settings during the pandemic, their perceived preparedness for the next pandemic compared with other professions in healthcare, and the role played by informal and organizational support in their quality of life and perceived preparedness. Potential similarities and differences between regions and countries will be briefly discussed as well. There will also be a discussion on the relevancy of the findings to the US healthcare system, and the lessons that can be taken from the presented research findings.
