Workshop Objectives:

As a result of this workshop, participants will be better able to:

  1. Identify tools to screen for and assess SUDs
  2. Create treatment plans to address co-occurring mental health diagnoses and SUDs
  3. Understand external resources and treatment referrals for SUDs and when to utilize these tools in the context of outpatient mental health care
  4. Understand how substance use can lead to clinical symptom misinterpretations

9:40 – 10:20: Substance screening & assessment tools

10:20 -11:00: Co-Occurring Diagnoses and treatment planning

11:00 - 11:10: Break (10 minutes)

11:10 - 11:40: When and how to build a comprehensive treatment team

11:40 – 12:20: What’s what? Substance-induced clinical symptom misinterpretations

Presenter:

Dr. Sam Lookatch (bio) is a a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of substance use and other co-occurring mental health disorders. She serves as an instructor in Medical Psychology/ Psychiatry at CUMIC with a join appointment at NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
