Kitama Seeger Cahill-Jackson
Kitama Seeger Cahill-Jackson, LMSW is a a staff therapist at New Perspective Psychological Services where he leads an ADHD group and a DBT skills group and treats patients in individual sessions using DBT, DBT-Prolonged Exposure, CBT, CBT for Insomnia and Exposure and Response Prevention among other modalities to treat depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD and other mental health diagnoses. He provides culturally competent treatment to his patients. Prior to joining New Perspective, he was a DBT clinician at Bloom Therapy on the Upper East Side, a social worker in residential and outpatient substance use programs at Emma R. Bowen Community Resource Center (aka Upper Manhattan Mental Health Center) and Odyssey House and was a medical discharge planner on Riker’s Island.
Kitama holds a master’s degree in social work from Columbia School of Social Work where he completed the DBT Training Program & Lab under Dr. Andre Ivanoff and received additional training from the Behavioral Tech, the training organization created by DBT creator Dr. Marsha Linehan. Kitama also holds a master’s degree in journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College.
In addition to Kitama’s work as a social worker and therapist, Kitama is on the board of directors of El Taller Latino Americano, a Latin American arts and cultural organization and is on the board of advisors of the Rosenberg Fund for Children which provides financial assistance to the children of political prisoners and Rocking the Boat, a youth development organization in the South Bronx. He was previously a board member for Randolph School and Hudson River Sloop Clearwater.
