Gina Griffin

Dr. Gina Griffin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She graduated from Eckerd College with a BS in Organizational Behavior, with a concentration in International Management, in 2008. In 2012, she completed her Masters of Social Work at University of South Florida. And in 2020, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a Doctorate of Social Work. She has spent the past decade working with survivors of combat trauma and military sexual trauma. She now owns Frostflower Counseling, a private practice in South Florida, and helps clients with a variety of trauma-related diagnoses.

Prior to becoming a social worker, Gina spent twenty-five years in creative roles, as a graphic designer and as a fashion designer, and she earned a degree in fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Technology. She has developed a wide range of technical skills that range from mastery of graphics and office software, and proficiency with multiple platforms and operating systems. This lead to her love of technology.

As a result, Gina also began to learn R Programming for data analysis, in order to develop her research-related skills. Gina is very passionate about research related to social work, and enjoys helping others to find their way through the world of research skill sets. Her capstone project, “Adventures in Social Work Research!” is a website that helps social workers to develop knowledge and skills in practice research, program evaluation, and data science. She is also the Tech columnist for The New Social Worker Magazine, and has published several papers on social work and technology.

Additionally, Gina has taught at Dominican University (Social Determinants of Health) and University of South Florida (Psychopathology). She has also appeared as a guest at other institutions to speak on clinical subjects, as well as social work and technology.

She also loves her dog.
