CSSW Licensure Grid

This document focuses on the first license application for which many students aim: the LMSW. Students must directly research current statebased licensure information in order to obtain the most accurate information for licensure. If licensure is a goal, students must keep up-to-date on state educational requirements throughout their MSSW education and beyond. This document is updated annually and meant to supplement your direct and current state-based licensure planning. State agency names are provided below with a hyperlink to the state agency URL. This document is dated September 2022. For any and all levels of licensure, please note that state agencies may require additional training, post-graduation examinations, experience, application and licensing fees, criminal background checks, and reference checks, along with other requirements for license eligibility. LCSW licensure requirements include, but are not limited, to significant hours of direct clinical work post-MSSW and supervision.
