New York City contains the highest ethnic Chinese population of any individual city outside Asia. Within that population, seniors are a vulnerable and growing group—and their vulnerability only increased when the COVID-19 pandemic swept through the city one year ago, overwhelming its social safety net. In this episode of Social Impact LIVE, host Richard Hara (bio) sits down with CSSW Associate Professor Jinyu Liu (bio) to talk about her recent research into how best to meet the needs of New York City’s older Chinese population during COVID. They will also discuss her plan to conduct a survey on the impact of rising anti-Asian violence on the communities she studies.
