The Columbia School of Social Work invites you to celebrate Pride Month with us via Zoom at an event featuring Morticia Godiva (she/her), a Black womxn of trans experience writer and performer based in New York City, with roots in its ballroom scene. Morticia will be sharing her wisdom and narratives, followed by a moderated Q&A. More information here.

Morticia Godiva is an actor, writer, model, and dancer based in New York City. Some of her notable work includes Feeling Like An Orchid, a short film that she wrote, produced, and starred in. The film tells a story of Black love and dating within a polyamorous relationship. This year Godiva released a short experimental film titled Boomerang. The film begs the question of where people’s intentions are, and are they as intentional as they think. As an artist Morticia engages in work that may intersect with her identity. She currently serves as the Director of Client Services for the Black Trans Travel Fund, a black trans led collective that redistributes funds to Black trans women in New York and New Jersey. Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning Long Wharf Theatre is set to produce Poly Pockets, an afrofuturism stage play that Godiva wrote.
