Tech and Society

To show the all-pervasiveness of racism in our society, two of our professors, Courtney Cogburn and Desmond Patton, have forged collaboration with storytellers, creative technologists, and data scientists to create immersive experiences of racial injustice. This past year, Cogburn won more kudos and media attention for her 1000 Cut Journey virtual reality experience, which (literally) walks participants through the life of a fictional Black male in America, while Patton won a prize for his first VR project, called Digital Arrest.
