Outcome from the CSSW Reaffirmation Process 2023

Dear CSSW Community,

Just this week, we heard from the Board of Accreditation of the Council on Social Work Education. The Board has completed their review of the Reaffirmation materials related to their evaluation of our MSW program. I am very pleased and proud to let you know that the Board voted to reaffirm our accreditation for the maximum period of time, through 2029.

This is the result of a successful site visit in February and thousands of pages of documentation that we submitted as part of the reaccreditation process, led so deftly by Dr. Richard Hara, Senior Associate Dean for MSW Education here at CSSW. I am profoundly grateful to Richard, the accreditation team, and all of our faculty, staff, and student participants for their exceptional efforts which led to the best possible outcome.

And I want to especially credit Richard and the team for their inclusive process, a portion of which enabled a re-imagining of our School’s mission statement, which can be found here. The process behind crafting a new mission statement involved a committee of our students, staff, and faculty, and it beautifully captures the core principles and ethos of a CSSW education.

Please join me in thanking Richard and all of our colleagues who devoted their time, creativity, and dedication to this important effort for our School.

In community,
Melissa
