Two Alumni Honored at 2014 Annual Meeting of NASW-NYC

At the annual meeting of the National Association of Social Workers-New York City, held on May 15, 2014, two alumni of the Columbia School of Social Work were recognized for their outstanding service:

  • Frances A. Gautieri (MS’67), LCSW, ACSW, former director of the Social Work Departments at Bellevue Hospital and New York Presbyterian, Columbia University Medical Center, was given a Lifetime Achievement Award for her leadership in the field of hospital social work and mentoring of many of today’s practitioners.
  • Thomas Sedgwick (MS’88), who directs the Social Work Department at the NYU Langone Medical Center and currently serves as second vice president of the Chapter Board of Directors, was given the James R. Dumpson, Jr. Chapter Service Award.

“We are proud and pleased to offer our congratulations to two alumni who have been recognized for their achievements by the NASW-NYC Chapter,” said Dean Jeanette Takamura. “Fran Gautieri has had a superlative career in the Departments of Social Work at New York/Presbyterian and Bellevue Hospital. And Tom Sedgwick has served as an exemplary chapter second vice president.”
