Mary Beaudet ‘93, Former Alumni Association Board Member, Dies

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Mary Beaudet ’93. Mary was manager of social work at Visiting Nurse Services in NYC (VNSNY). She served as chairperson for the East Side Council on the Aging (and was a member of the Board of Directors since 2000), was a member of VNSNY’s Professional Advisory Committee and Ethics Committee, as well as a volunteer at VNSNY Hospice Division. Most recently Mary was elected president of the NYC Chapter of the Society of Social Work Leaders in Health Care, and a member of the board of NASW in NYC.

An active member of the CUSSW Alumni Association, Mary served on the Board’s Executive Committee, the Alumni/Student Relations Committee and co-chaired the Annual Alumni Conference Committee. Committed to assisting current students, Mary made herself available to speak to as many students as she could. She also attended countless networking programs – all to make herself accessible to CUSSW students and recent graduates.

All of us at the School will miss Mary tremendously. Our sincerest condolences are extended to Mary’s husband, Dr. Thomas Portzline, and her family.
