CUSSW Professor Sheila B. Kamerman was a featured expert at the International Conference on “Children and the City” sponsored by the World Bank in Amman, Jordan on June 24th and 25th. The occasion for the conference, made possible by the patronage of H.M. Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, was a meeting on “Vulnerable Children in the Middle East and North African Region” which drew researchers from locales around the globe including Yemen, Morocco, Egypt and Jordan. Professor Kamerman was the only American, as well as the only non-World Bank presenter, on the program. Her analysis of the World Bank’s global strategy on children and youth examined the strategy of investing in children and youth as means of poverty reduction.
