CSSW Participates in 2021 SSWR Conference Touting Social Work for Social Change
Twelve faculty members and seven students participated in presentations, panels, and related events at the 25th Annual Conference of the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) held January 19–21, 2021.
Reflecting this year’s theme of “Social Work for Social Change,” topics addressed by the Columbia cohort ranged from how social workers can influence policy at the local, state, and national levels; to the need to make high tech innovations more inclusive; to proposals for diversifying the profession. One of our senior faculty members, Maurice V. Russell Professor Ron Mincy, was also recognized for his outstanding contributions to the study of social policy over his extended career, particularly in addressing the needs of young Black men and other vulnerable populations.
A few highlights from our social media coverage of the conference appear below. For the full list of presentations by CSSW community members, click here.
