Conference on “Illicit Drug Use and HIV Risk Among Older Adults”
The Columbia University School of Social Work and The Center for Intervention and Prevention Research on HIV and Drug Abuse (CIPRHDA) presented a conference on "Illicit Drug Use and HIV Risk Among Older Adults: Implications for Intervention and Prevention." View video.
Judith Auerbach, the second 2003 Visiting Scholar, gave the keynote address at the conference, during which she presented a general overview of the principles and philopshy of the NIH's approach to HIV prevention science. The conference gathered leading researchers in drug abuse, HIV and aging to:
- share current state of art knowledge of HIV risks among older adults in relation to illicit drugs,
- identify gaps of knowledge, and
- advance HIV and drug abuse research and program agendas for older adults.
