2018–2019 Year in Review

As the first school of its kind in the nation, Columbia University's School of Social Work has been at the crossroads of science and social justice for more than 120 years.

The six lists featured in this report (see Table of Contents, below) showcase the accomplishments of faculty, students and alumni, and the inspiring words of invited guests, during the 2018–2019 academic year (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019). They are a testament to how the School continues to build on that history in the 21st century.

Taken in aggregate, the highlights of a single year convey the impact the School of Social Work has had on the Columbia campus and beyond—all the waves it has made and mountains it has moved, through advances in scientific research and innovations in social work practice in pursuit of changing lives, and society, for the better.
