Leona E. Hess is a a doctoral candidate at CSSW, and a Project Director at CSSW’s Social Intervention Group (SIG). At SIG, she has worked with Dr. Elwin Wu on two federally funded studies on criminal justice-involved individuals who attend Alternative to Incarceration programs in NYC, and methamphetamine-involved African-American MSM couples. Ms. Hess has delivered structured interventions in community-based agencies through the CDC’s Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions project. More recently, she has served as a consultant for two NYC agencies that deliver harm reduction interventions for youth of color. Her dissertation focuses on the psychosocial development and sexual decision making of adolescent non-heteronormative females of color. Ms. Hess holds a BS from George Washington University and an MSW from NYU.
