Janna Metzler is a doctoral candidate at Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health, where she is also a Senior Program Officer in the Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health. She coordinates a joint global research and learning project between Columbia and World Vision International that evaluates the impact of Child Friendly Spaces in Emergencies. Ms. Metzler has provided design, monitoring, and evaluation technical support to field teams in Ethiopia, Uganda, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, the Philippines, and Nepal. She previously worked on reproductive health, gender-based violence, and education in Haiti, Liberia, Ghana, and the United States. Her research at Mailman focuses on measurement and evaluative approaches for mental health and psychosocial support programming for children. Ms. Metzler holds an MSW from the Columbia School of Social Work and an MPH from Mailman School of Public Health.
