Christine Alter, LCSW, is an instructor and counselor for the NYIT Vocational Independence Program (VIP) in Central Islip, NY. She teaches social skill courses, and has developed curricula to promote decision making, self-reflection, assertive communication, and self-determination. Ms. Alter is also chairperson of NYIT VIP’s Dare to Care Program, a campus-wide initiative to promote empathy and support the implementation of a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Framework.
Ms. Alter has over twenty years of direct practice experience, and fifteen years experience as a field instructor working with graduate students from Columbia, Fordham, and Adelphi. She earned her BS in Psychology from Union College, and her MSW from the Columbia School of Social Work.
