Shomari M. Harris
Shomari M. Harris, LMSW, EMPA, MA is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of experience providing culturally competent, evidence-based interventions. An HBCU graduate of Southern University (Baton Rouge, LA), Shomari completed both undergraduate and graduate programs there in Mass Communications before embarking on a career in education and the arts. The Oklahoma City native found his way to mental health service provision and counseling informed by a desire to work with Black men and boys who have experienced sexual trauma. Shomari completed the dual Master of Social Work and Executive Master of Public Administration at New York University. Currently, Shomari works as a City Research Scientist at NYC’s Department of Health & Mental Hygiene in the Training & Technical Assistance Program and maintains a private counseling practice, Black Son Shine Counseling. He also works as an adjunct in the Columbia University School of Social Work’s Motivational Interviewing Skills Lab.
