Maris Pasquale Doran

Maris Pasquale Doran, LCSW, is a private practitioner maintaining clinical licensure in New York and New Jersey. She graduated with a BA in Psychology from Georgetown University and received her MS in Social Work from Columbia University. Prior to launching her private practice, Ms. Doran worked as a senior-level social worker at Hospital for Special Surgery, addressing the complex biopsychosocial needs of patients facing chronic pain and injury. She was also a founding mental health practitioner at the telehealth platform Maven Health Clinic, was task force co-chair for the International Association for the Study of Pain’s curriculum outline for pain in social work, and served as a consultant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health Consortium Centers of Excellence in Pain Education. She is a co-author of chapters in both the Oxford Bibliographies in Social Work and the Encyclopedia of Social Work and has extensive experience presenting material related to the impact of chronic illness and pain to professional and community audiences.

Ms. Doran lives in New Jersey with her husband and two young sons and is an active member of her local community. She is also the co-author of the forthcoming children’s picture book Piper Sings, set for publication by Random House Studio in 2024.
