Christine Carville
Christine Carville, LCSW-R, is Team Leader for the Metropolitan Hospital Assertive Community Treatment Program, an evidence-based practice serving severely and persistently mentally ill clients in New York City. She has taught Advanced Clinical Practice for Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities; and has supervised social work and forensic psychology students from Columbia, NYU, Hunter, and John Jay College since 2010.
Ms. Carville began working with clients in private practice in 2010, and has recently initiated a weekly DBT skills group for women. She works with clients who evince a wide range of mental disorders, suicidality, and symptom presentation. Her clinical approach focuses on helping clients design lives worth living. She provides written psychological evaluations for individuals facing deportation to assist the courts in determining psychosocial, psychological, and financial hardship. She has qualified and served as an expert witness to provide diagnostic testimony in federal court for civil cases involving police or systemic brutality.
Before transitioning to social work, Ms. Carville had a ten year career as an entrepreneur. She was a founding member of a company that produced adult incontinence products and toddler training pants, a women’s lifestyle magazine publisher, and a wine importer. She is grateful on a daily basis for making the leap into social work, which is a life and career from which she hopes never to retire. Ms. Carville earned her BA from Barnard College in 1994, and her MSW from the Columbia School of Social Work in 2007.
