Cary Bosak

Cary Bosak, LCSW, works in mental health services for Columbia Medical School, where she sees students for a range of mental health issues and leads the eating disorder team. Until recently, she maintained a full time psychotherapy practice in New York City and Westchester County, through which she worked with adolescents and adults on eating disordered behaviors and trauma.

Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Bosak coordinated and helped develop a program at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell that provided services to survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence, as well as other violent crimes. She has worked in the Emergency Department at Bellevue Hospital, and as a clinical consultant with the Columbia/Barnard Sexual Violence Response Program.

Ms. Bosak received post graduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center, and is trained and certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.) She incorporates a mindfulness approach to her work, and has a special interest in working with various types of trauma, eating and body image issues, and women’s health issues.
