Columbia School of Social Work invites applications for multiple tenure-track and tenured positions at all ranks.

For more than 110 years, Columbia School of Social Work has been a leader in the education of professionals for careers in practice, policy, and administration. Located in New York City, the School offers masters and doctoral programs that are nationally and internationally recognized for their excellence. With a signature curriculum that features multidisciplinary courses taught by leading scholars and practitioners, and rich field education, CSSW is at the forefront of clinical and community practice, social policy, and social enterprise administration education, research, and innovation in the 21st century.

CSSW is seeking applicants with teaching experience, scholarship and research agendas in all areas of social work, including but not limited to clinical practice, aging, implementation and translational science, management, leadership, and social entrepreneurship, and global practice.

All candidates must have a Ph.D. in Social Work or other related fields.

To hold the rank of Professor, candidates are expected to be widely recognized for their distinction.

To hold the Associate Professor rank, candidates are expected to have a demonstrated record of scholarly and teaching achievement and show great promise of attaining distinction in their field of specialization. To be considered an Associate Professor with tenure, the candidate must show an established record of innovative and vigorous funding and research productivity, and is expected to maintain an extramurally-funded research agenda while participating in the education of graduate students.

Candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor are expected to be at the beginning of a career of independent scholarly research and teaching, and demonstrate great promise of attaining distinction in their field of specialization.

Exceptional candidates for faculty positions at the rank of Professor may be considered for appointments in the following named professorships:

  • Rehr/Fizdale Professorship for exceptional leadership and research contributions in Mental Health and Aging
  • Ottman, R.H. Professorship for exceptional leadership and research contributions in Family and Child Welfare

Appointments may begin on January 1, 2020 or July 1, 2020. Review of applicants will begin immediately.
