About the Workshop

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is one of the top 20 leading causes of illness-related disability according to the World Health Organization. The behavioral treatment with the most empirical support for its efficacy is Exposure and Response Ritual Prevention, also known as EX/RP or ERP, a specialized CBT treatment that is designed to break types of associations that occur in OCD. Under the guidance of Anthony Puliafico (bio), PhD, who directs the Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CUCARD)—Westchester, this workshop will focus on such topics as:

  • how to develop an exposure-based course of treatment for OCD
  • exposure ideas for common symptoms
  • the use of exposure in various formats
  • common barriers to treatment.

Live modeling and role plays will be used to illustrate how EX/RP works.
