About This Week’s Guests
The caravans of Central American migrants walking some three thousand miles to the U.S.-Mexico border have reached Tijuana, Mexico, only to be confronted with tear gas, harsh living conditions, and long delays in processing their requests for asylum. In this episode of Social Work LIVE, return guest Professor Neeraj Kaushal (bio) describes her research showing that in the 21st century, more than ever before, human mobility is critical to economic growth—a point she emphasizes in her new book, Blaming Immigrants (now out in paperback). Joining Prof. Kaushal is MSW student Bethany Miller (bio), who plans to travel to the U.S.-Mexico border over the holidays under the auspices of the New Sanctuary Coalition. After training in San Diego, she will head to Tijuana as a legal clinic volunteer.
