All mainstream health care professionals—general psychologists, counselors, physicians, nurses and social workers—require training in treating addiction; yet however much training they receive, they can always use more. In the first November episode of Social Impact LIVE, host Richard Hara (bio) sits down with Professor Allen Zweben (bio) to talk about the second edition of Treating Addiction: A Guide for Professionals, a book he coauthored with Motivational Interviewing founder Bill Miller and and behavioral change expert Alyssa Forcehimes, which came out on August 15 . Among the three coauthors is more than a century of experience in addiction treatment, and together they strive to fill the gap between what most professionals know and what they need to know, to perform their jobs effectively. Zweben has promised to highlight the latest thinking on motivational interviewing in Wednesday’s discussion.
