The School of Social Work’s Action Lab for Social Justice, now an officially designated university center, initially provided resources and trainings to help teachers, families, and social workers respond to the coronavirus. It later came to encompass an Action for Black Lives initiative, with the aim of bringing together social workers and communities to organize for an end to anti-Black racism. In this episode of Social Impact LIVE, host Richard Hara (bio) sits down with three current CSSW students who are credited with providing the leadership for launching Action for Black Lives: Natosha Dobbins, Mariame Kante, and Caitlin Yee. What actions are they currently prioritizing, and what impact do they hope those actions will have within the School, Columbia, and the wider community?
