In this week’s episode of Social Impact LIVE, host Richard Hara (bio) sits down with Sholpan Primbetova (bio), MSW’09, the Deputy Director of the Global Health Research Center of Central Asia (GHRCCA) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and Tara McCrimmon (bio), MIA/MPH’14, the project director for two Almaty-based interventions, to discuss the progress they have made in tailoring Columbia’s epidemiological and intervention research on HIV, STDs, migration, women, and violence to the needs of vulnerable groups in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Primbetova and McCrimmon will also address the challenges faced by U.S.-trained public health and social workers when working in other countries and the strategies GHRCCA researchers have used in forging an effective collaboration.
