In this week’s episode, host Richard Hara (bio) sits down with Professor Yamile Martí (bio) to talk about her efforts to advance international education in social work by bringing more internationally focused classes to Columbia School of Social Work, such as the course on Chile and Social Work she will be offering in Spring 2020, which covers Chilean history and the development of social work in Chile (it includes a trip to Chile during Spring Break). Martí will address the inhibiting role of right-wing political forces on the development of social work in that part of the world. She may also say a few words about the ongoing civil protests that started last month, when over a million people took to the streets throughout Chile to protest against President Piñera, demanding his resignation.

This week’s episode of Social Impact LIVE is the final of the Fall 2019 series. We hope you’ve enjoyed it and will join us again in January 2020, when our spring semester series begins.
