The last time we heard from alumna Jennifer Bornemann, MSW’00 (bio), she had been deployed to Monrovia, Liberia, to care for those who were battled Ebola, as part of her work as an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Six years on, she is the agency’s resilience chief and is working flat out on the public health response to COVID-19, providing emotional support, advocacy and information to those in greatest need. In this special edition of Social Impact LIVE, host Richard Hara (bio) sits down with Bornemann to talk about her work on the current pandemic as well as, more broadly, about her vision of the role social workers can, and should, be playing in response to public health emergencies.
