In this week’s episode of Social Impact LIVE, host Richard Hara (bio) sits down with adjunct professor Richard Beck (bio), LCSW, to discuss a topic close to both of their hearts: the need for therapists to seek self-care. Hara previously served as a clinical social worker at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and Beck has had years of experience as a group therapist, which, he says, makes him feel like a veteran returning home from war. Drawing from his chapter in The Wiley-Blackwell Handbook of Group Psychotherapy (editor: Jeffrey L. Kleinberg), titled “Care for the Caregivers,” Beck will outline strategies for clinicians to transform their inner experience from that of fatigue to a more positive view of life, one of hope and resiliency.
NOTE: All who register for this event will receive a PDF copy of Beck’s chapter, which Harvard psychologist Joe Shay calls a “must read.”
