Motivational Interviewing (MI): Moving Clients Through the Process of Change

October 13, 2018 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

About the Workshop
Motivational interviewing (MI) is an evidenced-based intervention that draws on strategies from client-centered counseling, cognitive therapy, and a strengths perspective while focusing on building an intrinsic motivation for change through exploring and resolving ambivalence. Although initially developed to address problem drinking, MI has since been applied to a wide range of populations and behavioral change areas, from smoking cessation to elderly care. Its efficacy has been demonstrated in numerous clinical trials.

Building on our School’s two decades of leadership in MI instruction, we are offering a two-part MI workshop under the leadership of full-time faculty member and MI expert Dr. Andrew Hamid (bio). Dr. Hamid presented a similar continuing education series last year, for which he received high marks from participants. Part Two in the series will be held on February 9, 2019 (more info).

For more information, including workshop learning objectives and full presenter bio, please see the listing on Eventbrite.
