About the Event
Marion E. Kenworthy Professor Dr. M. Katherine Shear will be one of four honorees at this year’s Hope In Action Innovation Awards and Fundraising Breakfast hosted by HOPE Center Harlem. Created to serve as an arm of the First Corinthian Baptist Church in Harlem, the HOPE Center is the manifestation of Senior Pastor Michael A. Walrond’s vision to effectively support the vast mental health needs of FCBC’s parishioners and the Harlem community at large, by providing free quality therapeutic services while also working to end the stigma around mental illness. This is the second year this fundraiser is being held. Dr. Shear and others are being honored as community heroes and exemplary partners, demonstrating extraordinary commitment to the field of mental health and beyond. According to the Hope Center’s event description: “Each of the honorees have been an inspiration to us all and are pillars in our community.”
