ABOUT THE PANEL

Four faculty members from Columbia University’s School of Social Work will discuss how to take the long view, from a social work perspective, of the policies being put in place by the Trump administration:

  • Barbara Simon: Women’s rights movement and what led us to now.
  • Ron Mincy: The recent recession and the economics at play that led to Trump’s ultimate election.
  • Irv Garfinkel: Social welfare policy and the state of the social work profession up to now, and moving forward.
  • Courtney Cogburn: Civil rights, Black Lives Matter, and strategies for moving forward.

The event will be moderated by Professor Qin Gao. It is the third in a series: Social Work in the Trump Administration Era.

Are you a NYS-, NJ- or CT-licensed social worker? If so, you are eligible to earn 1.5 live or live online contact hours for this event. To receive the certificate, you must attend the entire event (in person or via livestream) and complete an evaluation.The processing fee for this service is $30. Certificates will be emailed within 30 days of the workshop. CSSW is an approved NYSED provider for continuing education contact hours and a CSWE-accredited institution.
