The faculty of the School of Social Work announce a new forum series on social work in the age of President Donald Trump.
The speaker at this first event is Heidi Allen, assistant professor of social work. She will explain how the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has changed the landscape of U.S. health care and the potential implications of repealing the ACA. She will also discuss proposed replacement options before Congress and how these policies would impact vulnerable populations if adopted.
Professor Allen’s discussant is Michael Friedman, adjunct associate professor of social work. He will add his perspective as an advocate for the preservation of provisions in the ACA that have made higher-quality mental health services more affordable and accessible.
The event will take place in Room C06. It is open to faculty, administrators, and students. A recording will be made.
