May 8, 2020 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Join special trainings offered by CSSW faculty as part of their COVID-19 ACTION initiative; open to the School of Social Work’s community.

About the Approach

The Social Policies and Services training series focuses on social policies and services related to COVID-19, including strategies for supporting efforts at the local, state, and federal levels.

About the Session

Led by Compton Foundation Centennial Professor Jane Waldfogel (bio), who serves as co-director of the Columbia Population Research Center (CPRC), and Matt Maury (bio), a CPRC research analyst, this session will cover a key policy response to the COVID-19 pandemic: paid sick leave. Topics will include the landscape of paid sick leave in New York City, how much sick time New Yorkers have access to, and who lacks adequate coverage. The session will also review federal, state, and city laws on paid sick leave.
