Workshop Overview

How do religious and/or spiritual beliefs influence one’s experiences of grief and mourning? Is there such a thing as complicated spiritual grief? Psychologists and experienced grief therapists Sonya Lott (bio) and Mike Likier (bio) will provide an overview of the impact, both positive and negative, of religious and spiritual beliefs and practices on the experience of grief and mourning. They will explain the concept of complicated spiritual grief and talk about how religion and spirituality can affect the grief counseling process. Participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences with religion and the mourning process.
