Community Day is a school-wide, annual event that brings together School of Social Work students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members to explore pertinent social issues that impact the social work field, as well as to share experiences, stories, and resources in their work. Note that students are excused from field to attend Community Day.
CALL FOR WORKSHOP/ACTIVITY PROPOSALS
DUE: Monday, February 25th, 4:00 PM
We encourage and invite interested parties (students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members) to submit a proposal for a workshop/activity! Proposal ideas stemming from projects, research, or initiatives past and present are welcome.
We are particularly interested in proposals that incorporate one or more of our seven fields of practice (Aging/Gerontology; Contemporary Social Issues; Family, Youth, and Children’s Services; Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities; International Social Welfare and Services to Immigrants and Refugees; School-based and School-linked Services; and World of Work).
Sample topics include:
- Civility & Having Difficult Conversations
- Current Events
- Disability Rights and Issues
- Economic Justice
- Freedom of Speech
- Immigration/Undocumented/DACA
- LGBTQ+ Issues
- Mental Health
- Mixed and Multi-Racial Identities
- Reproductive Rights & Issues
- Restorative Justice
- Social Media and Social Justice
- Veterans’ Issues
Please note that workshop proposals are not limited to this list.
Workshop/activity proposals are due on Monday, February 25th at 4:00 PM. You will be notified regarding the status of your proposal by March 1st.
If your proposal is accepted, you will be asked to submit an overview of content by March 11th at 4:00 PM.
