Office of Professional Excellence Workshop

The fields of psychiatry and medicine have yet to reckon with disparate outcomes facing minoritized and marginalized individuals. To improve their advocacy on behalf of such clients, non-prescribing therapists and clinicians must learn not only the basics of psychopharmacology but also the criteria for assessing the impact of power, race, oppression, and privilege on a particular client’s treatment process. At this series of workshops led by Dr. Angela Coombs (bio), participants will receive a grounding foundational psychopharmacology while also learning about about limitations within the field, with an emphasis on the importance of supporting patient autonomy and becoming antiracist in working with clients.
