First Steps After Acceptance

The following steps should be taken by students after accepting their offer to attend Columbia School of Social Work.

Submit the Tuition Depost

Secure your spot in the upcoming class by submitting the non-refundable tuition deposit. Log in to your Application Status Page to complete the Admission Response Form and submit your tuition deposit, which will be credited toward your first semester of tuition.

Attend an Event (optional)

Visit campus or meet with an admissions officer. Attend an event on campus or visit us during drop-in hours.

Complete the FAFSA

Eligible students must complete the FAFSA to be considered for institutional aid.

Submit Final, Official Transcripts

Final and official transcripts from all institutions attended must be received prior to enrollment. Submit your official, final transcript(s) and/or WES evaluation, including degree conferral information as applicable. Transcripts must be submitted electronically. Activate Your UNI and LionMail

Get started with your university ID and email address.

Meet Immunization Requirements

Submit the form at least 30 days prior to registration.

Complete Practicum Placement Form

Incoming Two-Year, 16-Month, Advanced Standing, and Transfer students are required to submit a practicum placement form. Complete the Generalist Year Placement Form. You will receive an email from the Office of Practicum Learning to your columbia.edu email address with instructions on how to submit the form. Please submit the form as soon as possible.

Explore on-campus housing options and off-campus housing resources.

Mark Your Calendar for Orientation

At orientation you will learn about student supporting offices, school policies, and participate in activities to prepare you for your graduate studies at Columbia School of Social Work. Please refer to the Academic Calendar to view orientation and other important dates.

Smile for Your ID Card

Submit a photo for your student ID card.

Apply for Student Visa (International Students Only)

Begin the process to secure your student visa.

Student Technology Agreement

To ensure a successful educational experience, review the CSSW student technology requirements.

Students should complete each of the following steps that apply to them.

Submit Dual Degree Letters

Email your acceptance letter from the partner school. Email your acceptance letter as an attachment to [email protected]

Obtain Disability Services

Register with the Office of Disability Services. This step is essential for receiving accommodations. Be sure to register prior to the start of the semester.

Apply for Transfer Credit

The deadline to apply for transfer credit is June 30 for fall admission and January 5 for spring admission.
