Stacy Kass, Associate Dean for Development & External Affairs

The Office of Development and External Relations is comprised of two units: Development and External Relations and Marketing and Communications. The Office of Development and Alumni Relations is engaged in helping CSSW achieve its mission through philanthropic support and in supporting alumni to maintain a lifelong connection to the School. Together the team works to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the School. The Marketing and Communications unit is concerned primarily concerned with communicating the success stories of the School’s faculty, research, students, and alumni to external audiences – namely, the rest of Columbia University; other schools of social work; CSSW alumni, prospective donors and student prospects; and the wider public including mainstream media and other influencers. The four main tools used for telling those stories are: the School’s website; frequent event promotions, e-newsletters and similar direct communications, and a weekly program streamed on Facebook called Social Impact LIVE.
