Dear CSSW Students,

As many of you near the completion of your degree programs, I am writing to provide information on honoring your accomplishments and our School’s 2021 graduation ceremony.

Columbia University’s Commencement Ceremony of the 267th academic year will take place on Friday, April 30th, at 10:30am (EDT), via web broadcast. The Columbia School of Social Work will host the School’s virtual Graduation Ceremony on Friday April 30th at 3:00pm (EDT) to celebrate all that you have achieved during your time at CSSW.

We realize that students, their families and friends, and the broader CSSW community had hoped for partially or completely in-person graduation events. After extensive and careful consideration of public health guidelines and the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on our communities, and with the health and safety of our community top of mind, we deeply regret that this is not possible.

The School’s graduation ceremony will feature a keynote speaker and two student speakers – a Master’s graduate and a doctoral graduate. During the ceremony, each graduate’s name will be read and each graduate will be recognized with a slide that can be customized with a photo and a personal message. Each graduate will also receive a shareable personalized graduation website, which will allow for the display photos, videos, and texts. More details about all graduation ceremonies and celebrations will follow in the coming days.

We look forward to creating an experience that will honor each graduate and celebrate this important moment in your lives.

Congratulations!

Melissa
