October 23, 2013

What does it mean to support social work education? In the images below, seven CSSW alums and one staff member answer the question, “Why do you give?” This feature was launched in celebration of Columbia Giving Day, which took place October 23rd, 2013.* Join other Columbians around the world and show the love. Make a gift in support of the Columbia School of Social Work!

*GIVING DAY RESULTS for Columbia School of Work:

  • We raised just over $25,000 for financial aid.
  • Participation increased by 44 percent over last year. There were 143 donors according to the latest report. They included alumni, students, and friends from all over the world, from Beijing to St. Thomas, as well as a wide spread of graduating classes: 1947-2014.
  • University-wide, 83 alumni, students and friends volunteered as Columbia Giving Day Ambassadors to build enthusiasm and momentum around Giving Day, reaching a total of nearly 70,000 people within their social networks. At least 15 of these Ambassadors represented CSSW. One of them, Safiatou Coulibaly (MS’14), brought glory and visibility to CSSW by taking second place in the bid to earn points for numbers of posts and shared links, with 8,970 points!
