Your Annual Fund gifts make it possible for outstanding students to attend CSSW and bring a Columbia education to the people and places they serve.

Impact. CSSW graduates work in diverse fields in the non-profit, government and corporate sectors. Many provide individual and family therapy/counseling. Employers actively recruit CSSW graduates because of their strong academic preparation, analytical and professional practice skills, and leadership background.

Access. The Annual Fund provides scholarships to all students with demonstrated financial need, so the most dedicated and capable students have access to a Columbia social work education. Ninety percent of the student body requires financial aid to attend Columbia.

Every Gift Counts. CSSW is self-supported financially within Columbia University. Annual Fund gifts to the School of Social Work are spent in their entirety each year to offer robust financial aid packages. We rely on the support of alumni and friends to maximize scholarship awards for our students. Last year, the Annual Fund raised the equivalent of forty-one financial aid awards.

Ways to Support the School

The Columbia School of Social Work was founded one year after social work legend Mary Richmond gave her historic speech calling for professional training of social workers. In honor of her legacy, we recognize leadership donors who have enabled us to carry on educating social work leaders with gifts of $500 or more.
