Dates:  March 10, March 24, April 7, April 19
Time:  9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Course Description:
This seminar is designed to support field instructors who have taken the SIFI course five years ago or more and would like to sharpen their supervisory skills. Participants will be equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills and values to effectively meet the range of educational responsibilities in their role as teachers of social work students. The main goal of the SIFI is to help field instructors teach students how to practice social work within specific agencies and according to the expectations of the school and the profession. The seminar will teach the process of field education, as well as the goals and tasks by way of experiential activities and discussion. Discussions and lectures will provide opportunities for evaluating student practice, assessing the student/supervisor relationship, incorporating culturally competent supervision and creating an environment for adult learning.
