Dr. Susan Simring has taught courses in Psychopathology and Social Work Practice with Families at Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW) since 1990. She received her MSW (1968) and DSW (1984) from CUSSW, and an advanced certificate in family therapy from the Family Therapy Institute of New Jersey in 1985.

Dr. Simring was a full time faculty member at NYU School of Social Work (1984-1990), and an adjunct at Seton Hall University and Wurzweiler School of Social Work. She has co-authored several articles on marriage, divorce and family therapy. She has also co-authored two books: The Compatibility Quotient (1990) and Making Marriage Work for Dummies (1999). She is in private practice specializing in work with couples and families.
