Leona E. Hess is a Project Director at CUSSW’s Social Intervention Group, where she has worked with Prof. Elwin Wu on, among other things, the start-up and management of two federally funded studies focusing on criminal justice-involved individuals who attend Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) programs in New York City and methamphetamine-involved, African-American MSM couples . Ms. Hess brings several years of delivering structured interventions in community-based agencies taking part in the CDC’s Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions (DEBI) project. More recently, she has served as a consultant for two NYC agencies that are delivering harm reduction interventions for youth of color. Ms Hess holds a BS from George Washington University and an MSW from NYU. Currently, Ms. Hess is in the doctoral program at CUSSW. Her dissertation is focusing on the psychosocial development and sexual decision making of adolescent non-heteronormative females of color.
