Christine Alter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years direct practice experience in the profession. Additionally, Ms. Alter has been a field instructor for over 15 years working with social work students from Columbia, Fordham, and Adelphi graduate programs. She is currently an instructor and counselor for the NYIT Vocational Independence Program (VIP) in Central Islip, NY. Ms. Alter teaches social skill courses and has developed curriculum to promote decision making, self-reflection, assertive communication and self-determination. Ms. Alter is also chairperson of NYIT VIP’s Dare to Care Program, a campus wide initiative to promote empathy and support the implementation of a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Framework. She received her MSW from Columbia University and her BS in Psychology from Union College.
